Earth Day 2021

Happy Earth Day, Neighbours!

Today seems like a great day to share some ways we can all show our planet a little TLC and the City of Calgary is making it easy for us to do! (Links in bio since they won’t be clickable below)

1. We are seeing SO MUCH LITTER lately. Let’s start cleaning up! The City is giving out handy little Litter Cleanup Kits (while supplies last). They’re free and available Thursday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, 2425 – 9 Ave. SE and Ralph Klein Park, 12350 – 84 St. SE (again, while supplies last) see https://www.calgary.ca/csps/parks/volunteer/tlckits.html?redirect=/tlckits for more info

2. Start gardening and put your compost to good use! Since we’re all (hopefully) already composting, now it’s your chance to enjoy the fruits of your labour. The City of Calgary’s annual Green Cart Compost Giveaway is now underway and runs from May 10 to June 26. The booking tool is now live and this year we have a choice of 2 dumps to pick from; the Shepard (South) and Spyhill (North) landfills during operating hours. Book your 15 minute time slot at the link below (don’t forget your shovel and buckets!)

3. Sign up for the Mayor’s Environment Expo – open to students of all ages! The Mayor’s Environment Expo is held annually in conjunction with National Environment Week with the goal to empower and educate Calgary’s youth to practice and promote environmental actions. The 2021 Expo is 100% virtual and will take place June 1 – 3with over 100 FREE virtual sessions being offered. Hit up the link below to find out more. https://www.calgary.ca/uep/esm/mayors-environment-expo/mayors-environment-expo.html?redirect=/mee

There you go! Three different ways to show our planet a little love.
