about us
Serving our neighbourhood since 1976
Our Story
We're a volunteer-run, inclusive organization committed to lifting up and celebrating our diverse community. We do our best to enhance and promote community culture through thoughtful programming designed to engage and support our residents.
We strive to be our neighbourhood’s voice within Calgary, while also providing a place to give Whitehorn residents a place to be heard. Our programs and events are not restricted to only WCA members, but are open to everyone. All are welcome here. In fact, our membership is open to all residents of Whitehorn and we also offer Associate Memberships for non-Whitehorn residents who wish to support our organization by joining.
The WCA offers fitness programs, game days and meet-ups for seniors, a toddler playgroup, we host & provide supports for our community Girl Guides, and run a Free Community Pantry serving 500+ families monthly. Our facilities include a community garden, an outdoor rink that’s utilized year-round, and tennis courts run by the City of Calgary. We host regular free, family-friendly events throughout the year. The Whitehorn Community Association is a registered not-for-profit society incorporated under The Societies Act of Alberta.
We believe creating beautiful days in our neighbourhood requires many hands...
Our Philosophy
Mr. Rogers Was Right
WE BELIEVE CREATING BEAUTIFUL DAYS IN OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD REQUIRES MANY HANDS AND VALUE WORKING TOGETHER AS A TEAM TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
By promoting community interests through purposeful leadership, intentional development, and open communication; we actively work at nurturing a desirable, welcoming place to live where residents can enjoy the benefits of family, friends and community. Through teamwork and shared values, we are growing the community we envision; one that offers an inspiring lifestyle and quality of life.

Our Mission
We Also believe being part of an engaging community to be integral to creating a sense of belonging.
We strive to provide community residents with affordable and no-cost options to enjoy their neighbourhood by removing some of the barriers they may be facing. Our team works diligently to create programs, events, and safe spaces that give our residents the ability to sit, converse and build friendships; we get to know our neighbours and develop friendships that help us in continuing to build a safe, thriving community for everyone.
