Sharing is Caring
We ask that everyone take what they need but leave enough for others. Donations are not expected, but gratefully accepted. These funds go directly to supporting the pantry by covering fuel for our volunteer drivers and adding to bulk food purchases. Every donation, small or large, is appreciated.

Parking
We recommend visitors park in the North Lot off of Whiteridge Way NE and enter through the west doors facing the ice rink and community garden. https://maps.app.goo.gl/RG3aoUkccfpeCMKdA

In the early days of 2020, when the world was reeling from the impact of a global pandemic, a simple yet powerful idea took root in the heart of Whitehorn. As the cost of groceries soared and the need for assistance grew, volunteers seized an opportunity to provide free bread to seniors struggling to make ends meet. What began as a modest offering—one item, one need—has since blossomed into a community lifeline, helping over 200 families on a weekly basis.

This initiative, now known as the WCA Pop-up Pantry, owes much of its success to the incredible support from partners like Second Harvest and Guru Nanak Free Kitchen Calgary. But at its core, this program is powered by a dedicated group of volunteers, each bringing their unique skills and heart to the operation. Some gather donations, others sort and pack food, and many contribute their time to serve the families who rely on this resource.

The pantry offers more than just food. In a time when hope and connection are in short supply, it has become a symbol of community and resilience. The success of the pantry has been no accident—it is the result of the unwavering commitment and selflessness of its volunteers. Our team is comprised of people of all ages, all working tirelessly to ensure there is always something available for those in need. Through their collective efforts, the Pop-Up Pantry has transformed from a simple food distribution point into a symbol of solidarity, compassion, and shared strength.

As the months and years have passed, the Pop-Up Pantry’s impact has only deepened. Families who once struggled with hunger now sit at their tables with dignity, enjoying the meals they receive. The pantry has given them more than just nourishment—it has given them a sense of belonging, a reminder that they are not alone in their struggles. It has shown them that when a community comes together, no challenge is too great to overcome.

Today, as the WCA Pop-Up Pantry continues to thrive, the simple vision that started it all has become an essential lifeline for many. It serves as a powerful reminder that, in the face of hardship, compassion, resilience, and unity can transform lives.
